Competitions

Members are often content to sail their boat on our beautiful lake, simply for the pleasure of it.  They enjoy the challenge of navigating our buoys and the complex winds which swirl around the clubhouse and the lake.  They enjoy watching the oyster catchers and many other birds with which we share the lake.  They enjoy this in the knowledge that should their batteries fail, or they get caught on a buoy the rescue boat can be launched to retrieve their boat.

However most weeks members also engage in some friendly competition.  Usually a couple of laps around the buoys in a clockwise direction finishing opposite the club house, then, just to challenge the winds , another couple in an anti-clockwise direction.

The club calendar suggests weeks for DF95 sailing or Victoria sailing son members who have both know which to prepare and bring for that weeks sailing.

However  we also run annual challenges when the competition gets a bit more serious.

 DF95 competition
 
There are ten sessions reserved during the year's program when priority is given at 14:00 to DF95 sailing races. There are usually four races which count in the annual competition although other informal races may take place on that day and on other sailing days.
Over the year members are assessed on their 10 best racing results. See the Racing Rules for the way in which the winner is found.
 
Victoria and DF65 competition
 
As with the DF95 competition except only 6 sessions are reserved for these classes. The two classes race together for one prize.
 
The winners of both competitions are acknowledged at the annual Presentation Tea.
