Hints on Sourcing a DF95 Yacht

Sourcing a DF95 Yacht

At Rugeley Model Boat Club we sail many types of yacht but the most popular radio controlled model yacht is the DF95 - it suits the winds at Manor Park. This gives you our ideas on how to obtain and build your DF95.

There is only one proper source to buy a new DF95, and that is from RC Yachts at:www.radiosailing.co.uk Tel: 01322 666 363 They are brilliant, quick and fast and helpful for all spares etc.

We also strongly recommend you use the inexpensive FlySky FS-i6 radio which is actually quite sophisticated, you get a transmitter and receiver that is equivalent to more expensive ones. Another good reason is that we all know how to set up the FlySky and get the best out of it — plus we have written an “idiots guide” to the Chinese translated manual. The yacht comes part assembled (RTR), and the box includes a white hull. If you want a coloured hull, you still have to buy the white one first (in box). So you either spray your white one before final assembly, buy self adhesive coloured panels, or buy a coloured hull and then transfer all the bits inside your white hull to the basic empty coloured hull. You might need help on the rigging, it’s not as easy as it looks and is very fiddly – so remember to ask us one of us for help.

We'll gladly help you finish the assembly, even on the clubhouse table on a Monday afternoon, but it takes about 3 hours.

What you need to buy from RC Yachts are three or four items:
DragonFlite 95 V2 (RTR) with FlySky Radio FS-i6  -  £389.00
DF65/95 LiFe-Po 6.4v 700mah battery pack 1  -  £8.80
DF65/95 USB LiFe-Po battery charger 1  -  £3.20
Vapex 4 AA NiMH 1.2v 2900mAh batteries (for transmitter) 1. -  £9.90
DF95 - Sail Numbers - black * 8 (for 2 digit sail number) 2  -  £6.40
{Prices are indicative @ 13/7/2024 and can change with offers etc. }

Note 1) The receiver LiFe-Po battery is charged from a USB port/charger. The transmitter uses normal AA batteries, if you choose the NiMH rechargeable you will need an appropriate charger.

Note 2 ) You will need sail numbers which stick on your sails for identification. At RMBC we keep a list on our website of sail numbers currently in use:-
