There will be no RMBC meeting on Monday 28th next week.
The gap across the River Trent into Saddlesall Lake has silted up again after the usual 5 years. This makes sailing dinghies with centreboards between the lakes impossible, in the increasingly shallow conditions.
The dredging contractors have arrived today with 3 articulated lorries carrying an enormous pontoon with a big excavator to go on top.
This week they will ensure that the silt is removed that has been deposited by the River Trent, preventing access to Saddlesall Lake only. On Monday all the silt spoil will be taken off site, blocking the road area and lake ramp in front of the containers and the Guides shelter. This will prevent the RMBC from meeting on Monday 28th April.
After that we will be full steam ahead and pleasant breezes for our RMBC Open Day on Bank Holiday May 5th, with cake and rib rides.
