Sailing Report Bank Holiday 25/05/2025

Very few braved the miserable weather to sail on this Bank Holiday Monday. Half dozen DF95s took to the water whilst our scale model colleagues were almost completely absent. Those present enjoyed the usual four races whilst huddled under the marquee. No record was made of the results . We are are hoping for a more pleasant day next week.

Sailing Report 19/05/2025

On this sunny day we were expecting a day of racing in the Victoria/DF65 competition. Again the calendar does not seem to have reached all members and only two Victorias and one DF65 turned up. The decision was made to cpancel the competition and the day became a non competition DF95 racing day. This was enjoyed with fair winds and up to 12 members racing ( including a Victoria and a DF65) The calendar has been updated to include an extra session for Victoria/DF65 racing. Please every one consult the calendar. /https://rugeleymodelclub.org.uk/club-calendar/

Second Day of DF95 competition 12/05/2025.

We had a very hot second day of the DF95 competition. Knees have appeared. Ten members raced and there were four different winners to the races. One extra race took place but was scratched due to the absence of a working pen.

Sailing Report 21/04/2025

Arriving at the club house on a damp bank holiday Monday, I found only a lone 51 sailing from the pontoon. Having eaten my sandwiches and drunck my coffee alone under the marquee I returned home without putting my boat on the water. Of course later in the afternoon the sun was shining and conditions would have been perfect for a sail, but by then I was at home. Paul (29)

News from the north

Last Friday an MYA open DF95 event was held at Rudyard Lakes which lies between Stoke and Macclesfield. Five Manor Park members participated in what was a very successful event, Colin shared an image captured by his brother’s drone which coincidentally shows MPSC sails leading the pack. You may well recognize some sail numbers often leading in races at Manor Park.

Dredging the Trent- Message from Colin

There will be no RMBC meeting on Monday 28th next week. The gap across the River Trent into Saddlesall Lake has silted up again after the usual 5 years. This makes sailing dinghies with centreboards between the lakes impossible, in the increasingly shallow conditions. The dredging contractors have arrived today with 3 articulated lorries carrying an enormous pontoon with a big excavator to go on top. This week they will ensure that the silt is removed that has been deposited by the River Trent, preventing access to Saddlesall Lake only. On Monday all the silt spoil will be taken off […]

The Rugeley Model Boat Club invites members, friends and family along with other members of Manor Park Sailing Club to join them, celebrating 40 years of sailing at Manor Park at 11.00 on Monday 5th May 2025.  Everyone can have a go at radio sailing a Df95 from the Clubhouse patio. Alternatively visitors can try navigating a nautical scale model from the shore, in the corner of the lake away from the wind and waves, weather permitting. Since the six Rugeley Model Boat Club refugees left the redundant Rugeley Power Station and came to Manor Park, the members numbers have […]
