Sailing Report 21/04/2025

Arriving at the club house on a damp bank holiday Monday, I found only a lone 51 sailing from the pontoon. Having eaten my sandwiches and drunck my coffee alone under the marquee I returned home without putting my boat on the water. Of course later in the afternoon the sun was shining and conditions would have been perfect for a sail, but by then I was at home. Paul (29)

First Day of DF95 competition 08/04/2025.

Monday 8/4/25  marked the first day of the annual DF95 competition. Eight members competed and it may be there would have been more had everyone consulted the club calendar. However there will be many more races before the season ends so  all is not lost. The weather was dry and and sunny, the wind was good and we all enjoyed the racing. A yacht that wandered off into the trees by the fishermen’s end of the lake necessitated the launch of the rescue boat.

Dredging the Trent- Message from Colin

There will be no RMBC meeting on Monday 28th next week. The gap across the River Trent into Saddlesall Lake has silted up again after the usual 5 years. This makes sailing dinghies with centreboards between the lakes impossible, in the increasingly shallow conditions. The dredging contractors have arrived today with 3 articulated lorries carrying an enormous pontoon with a big excavator to go on top. This week they will ensure that the silt is removed that has been deposited by the River Trent, preventing access to Saddlesall Lake only. On Monday all the silt spoil will be taken off […]

News From Colin 26/03/2025

While the light will fade quickly by 20.00, we still want to get the Df95 yachts back on the water for the Summer evenings, after the hour goes forward. It will be friendly and helpful sailing from next week. All are welcome and we will have the spare club Df95 No26 ready in the green cabin for eventualities and newcomers. Also lots of spare parts on hand and assistance with tuning. Please let me know if you are joining. I can add you to the Whatsapp group.

The Rugeley Model Boat Club invites members, friends and family along with other members of Manor Park Sailing Club to join them, celebrating 40 years of sailing at Manor Park at 11.00 on Monday 5th May 2025.  Everyone can have a go at radio sailing a Df95 from the Clubhouse patio. Alternatively visitors can try navigating a nautical scale model from the shore, in the corner of the lake away from the wind and waves, weather permitting. Since the six Rugeley Model Boat Club refugees left the redundant Rugeley Power Station and came to Manor Park, the members numbers have […]
